Actor Trisha Krishnan has acknowledged a fan’s post that credited her as the common factor in the career-best films of Tamil cinema’s “three big stars” — Vijay, Ajith Kumar, and Suriya.

The post, shared by Trisha on her Instagram stories, has since gone viral, sparking celebrations among her fans across the industry.

What the fan said

The fan’s poster — created by page @actor_trisha_fc — was titled “The Common Factor in #Big3’s Top Hits.” It featured the actor alongside Vijay for ‘Ghilli’ (2004), Ajith for ‘Gilli’ (also released in 2004, though the fan appears to have conflated it with ‘Manam’ which was 2014), and Suriya for ‘96’ (2018).

The fan wrote: “After Long Time I’m Doing This. This Girl Did Hatrick With Your Favourite Actor’s Top Hits. #Trisha” .

The caption was accompanied by heart and fire emojis, celebrating the actor’s enduring collaboration with three of Tamil cinema’s biggest male stars.

Trisha’s reaction

Trisha reshared the post on her Instagram stories, adding a simple yet telling caption: “Love my fans ❤️” with her acknowledgment serving as a nod to the sentiment expressed by her fan base.

Her reaction has been widely appreciated, with many fans interpreting it as a quiet but confident affirmation of her contribution to some of the most memorable films in Tamil cinema.

The ‘Ghilli’ factor

The fan’s reference to Trisha as the common factor is not without merit. ‘Ghilli’ (2004), directed by Dharani, remains one of the highest-grossing Tamil films of its time and a career-defining hit for Vijay. Trisha played the female lead, Dhanalakshmi, opposite Vijay’s Saravanavelu.

The film’s re-release in April 2024 broke multiple box office records, with the re-release alone collecting over ₹20 crore worldwide — a testament to its enduring popularity and Trisha’s on-screen pairing with Vijay.

The film’s songs, composed by Vidyasagar, remain chartbusters, with “Appadi Podu” and “Kokku Para Para” still staples at weddings and events.

Ajith’s ‘Gilli’ and ‘Manam’ confusion

The fan’s post mentioned Ajith’s ‘Gilli’ (2004), but Trisha was not actually part of that film. The confusion likely arises from her role in ‘Manam’ (2014) — a fantasy drama that paired her with Vikram, not Ajith.

However, the spirit of the fan’s message holds: Trisha has worked with Ajith in films like ‘Kireedam’ (2007), where she played Malarvizhi, and ‘Boologam’ (2015). Her role in ‘Kireedam’, in particular, was appreciated for its emotional depth and chemistry with Ajith.

Suriya’s ‘96’

The fan’s most accurate reference was Suriya’s ‘96’ (2018), directed by C. Prem Kumar. Trisha played Jaanu, the female lead opposite Suriya’s Ram, in a film that became a cult classic for its poignant portrayal of first love and reunion.

The film collected over ₹20 crore in its original run and saw a successful re-release in 2024, further cementing Trisha’s status as a bankable star in her own right.

A broader pattern

Beyond the three stars mentioned, Trisha has delivered major hits with Vikram (‘Saamy’, ‘Kadhal Sadugudu’), Madhavan (‘Run’, ‘Priyamaanavale’), Ravi Teja (‘Nee Sukhame’ in Telugu), Chiranjeevi (‘Stalin’), and others. Her career spans Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam cinema, with notable recent successes including ‘Ponniyin Selvan: I and II’ (Mani Ratnam’s epic), ‘Leo’ (2023, with Vijay), ‘Varisu’ (2023, with Vijay), and ‘The Road’ (2024).

Fan celebrations

Following Trisha’s acknowledgment, fans have taken to social media to celebrate the actor’s longevity and versatility. The hashtags #Trisha and #QueenOfTamilCinema trended on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday.

One fan wrote: “From Ghilli in 2004 to Leo in 2023 — 19 years and still going strong. That’s the Trisha legacy.”

Another added: “Name one actor who has worked with all top stars in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam and delivered hits in every language. You can’t. Because there’s only one Trisha.”

The bottom line

Whether or not the fan’s post was entirely accurate, Trisha’s gracious reaction — and her larger body of work — makes one thing clear: she remains one of Indian cinema’s most enduring and versatile actors, consistently shining in the company of giants.
