Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata’ witnessed a massive crash on its first Monday, with collections plummeting by over 63 per cent after showing marginal growth over the opening weekend .

The film, based on the bravery of medical staff during the 2008 Mumbai attacks, collected just Rs 65 lakh net on Day 4 across 1,866 shows, registering an overall occupancy of only 10.76 per cent .

With the latest numbers, ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata’ has accumulated an estimated India net collection of Rs 4.90 crore and an India gross of approximately Rs 5.86 crore after four days in theatres .

Weak opening, marginal weekend growth

The film opened to a modest Rs 1 crore on its release day, Friday, June 12. It showed slight improvement over the weekend, earning Rs 1.45 crore on Saturday and Rs 1.80 crore on Sunday .

Occupancy numbers followed a similar pattern, improving from 11 per cent on opening day to 17 per cent on Saturday and 21 per cent on Sunday. However, the positive momentum evaporated as the weekdays began .

Lagging behind Kangana’s previous releases

The film’s performance falls significantly short of Kangana’s previous release ‘Emergency’, which had earned Rs 11.40 crore net within its first four days – more than double the collection of ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata’ .

It has, however, marginally outperformed her earlier film ‘Tejas’, which collected Rs 4.20 crore in its opening weekend .

Competitive box office landscape

The film faced stiff competition upon release, opening alongside multiple titles including Manoj Bajpayee’s ‘Governor’, Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’, and Vikram Bhatt’s horror sequel ‘Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past’ .

Among these, ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ demonstrated better hold on Monday, collecting Rs 1.25 crore net and recording a comparatively lower decline .

Tax-free status fails to boost footfall

The film received tax-free status in Haryana and Delhi, with Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announcing the exemption after attending a special screening . However, the concession has not translated into stronger audience turnout.

Budget recovery concerns

According to industry reports, the film’s budget is estimated at approximately Rs 15 crore. With a four-day net collection of just Rs 4.90 crore, the film has recovered only about 32 per cent of its production cost .

Trade analysts suggest that the film will need exceptionally strong word-of-mouth and consistent growth in the coming days to improve its box office trajectory. However, with a steep Monday drop and increasing competition, the prospects appear challenging.

The film, directed by Manoj Tapadia and co-produced by Kangana Ranaut, features Esha Dey, Girija Oak, and Smita Tambe alongside Ranaut . It portrays the heroic efforts of nurse Anjali Kulthe, who helped save 20 pregnant women during the 26/11 attacks at Mumbai’s Cama Hospital .
