Comedian Samay Raina has officially confirmed that shooting for the second season of his hit YouTube show India’s Got Latent is underway, months after the first season was pulled down following a major controversy.
The announcement came through a behind-the-scenes picture shared on Samay’s Instagram stories, where fans had been flooding his DMs asking for updates about the show’s return .
The update that broke the internet
Samay first took to Instagram to announce that he was reviving his favourite chess tournament “for old times’ sake,” which led to an outpouring of messages from fans eager to know about the second season of India’s Got Latent .
Reacting with his signature humour, Samay first shared a meme from his recent comedy special Still Alive before finally dropping the news everyone had been waiting for .
Sharing a behind-the-scenes picture from the sets, Samay captioned the image: “Uski bhi shooting chal rahi hai dostoooo (That’s being shot too, friends)” .
What the picture reveals
The shared image features Samay holding a microphone while comedian Balraj Ghai stands behind him. The faces of other panel members were intentionally hidden to maintain suspense, though comedian Aashish Solanki was partially visible in the frame .
The post marks the first official confirmation from Samay that the show is back in production, following weeks of speculation and unverified set photos circulating online .
Leaked set picture sparked earlier speculation
This official update comes after a leaked picture from the alleged set of India’s Got Latent Season 2 went viral earlier this month. The photo appeared to show actors Alia Bhatt and Sharvari seated on the judging panel alongside Balraj Singh Ghai and Aashish Solanki .
While the image fuelled intense speculation that the two actors could appear as celebrity guests in the new season, neither the actors nor the show’s makers have officially confirmed the reports .
The controversy that brought down Season 1
The show’s sudden hiatus dates back to February 2025, when podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia appeared as a guest alongside Ashish Chanchlani and Apoorva Mukhija .
During the episode, Ranveer’s controversial remarks about parents and sex triggered widespread outrage online. The backlash was severe, leading to multiple FIRs being filed against Ranveer, Samay, and the show .
Guest panellist Apoorva Mukhija received rape and death threats, while Ranveer Allahbadia faced temporary restrictions on uploading his podcasts .
In response to the escalating situation and to protect those involved, Samay took the drastic step of removing all existing episodes of India’s Got Latent from YouTube .
The road to a comeback
The tide began to turn in March 2026 when the Supreme Court allowed Ranveer Allahbadia to resume his podcasts . Shortly after, in April, Samay made his own comeback with the stand-up special Still Alive, where he candidly addressed the controversy, its impact on his mental health, and his family’s reaction, before officially announcing the return of India’s Got Latent Season 2 .
Speaking about his plans for the new season, Samay said: “Show toh main laaunga bhai kyunki maza aata tha woh show karne mein (I will bring the show back because I enjoyed doing it). Main chahta hoon main ekdum wild show karoon.”
What to expect from Season 2
While Samay has not yet announced when the new season will premiere, reports suggest the show is expected to release in July 2026 and may land on a major OTT platform, with both Netflix and Amazon Prime Video reportedly in the running .
Samay has also revealed a unique vision for the new season: “Internet mein ekdum softy version daalenge. I want to do a wild, wild show (I will put a softer version online. I want to create a completely wild version of the show)” .
